1. Cebu is in Visayas

 

The Philippines is divided into three; Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Cebu is Region VII and is known as the Central Visayas.

2. Cebuano / Cebuana

 

The people in Cebu are generally called, Cebuano; male is called Cebuano and female is Cebuana.

 

3. Cebu’s main language is “Bisaya”

 

The national language which is commonly known as, “Tagalog”. Cebuanos can understand Tagalog but the vernacular language is, “Bisaya”. People from Cebu understands English well too.

4. Basic Greetings

 

Let’s start with the easy greetings:

  • How are you? – Kumusta?

5. Cebu’s Religion

 

People in Cebu are very religious. Majority of the people are Roman Catholic. If you going to visit Cebu, you are going to see lots of Churches in the island.

 

 

6. Money & Transportation

 

Cebu’s currency is peso which is widely used in The Philippines. You should check the currency from time to time. For transportation, the common in mode of transportation is jeepney which usually cost 7 php. Next is, white taxi which is a bit expensive, the amount depends on how far your location is. Lastly, if you’re planning to visit the islets surrounding the island then you will be using ferry boats or  small boats.

7. 　Food

8. Weather

 

The weather usually depends on the months.

• January – February: is a bit sunny but windy.

• March – May: Summer Time, it’s usually sunny and hot.

• June: The start of Rainy Season

• July-December: Expect to be cloudy, windy and occasionally there are typhoons.

                            Don’t worry there are times that days are good that it’ll be sunny.

 

8. Historical Spots.

 

Most of the historical sites are found in the city. You can even visit the famous one for half a day. Most of them are just close to each other. 

 

9.　Beaches

 

Popularly known to have beautiful white sand beaches. I encourage you to visit them.

 

10. 　Adventures

 

Not only known for the beautiful white sand beaches but adventures as well, such as; Whale Shark Watching, Chasing Waterfalls, Canyoneering, Island Hopping and many more to mention.
