Camotes‘ a beautiful place for slight adventure and unwinding.
Been Craving to go Camotes but wondering what to do?
Here are the top 10 things you can do in Camotes.
1.Swimming in the beautiful water with the local kids.
When I first set my foot in Camotes, I didn’t expect a lot. Why? I’ve been to beautiful beaches and I usually think Philippines’ beaches will always be such a beauty. What makes it different this time? Well nothing new but a powder-like sands, water so blue with locals that are so friendly and trustworthy, kids that share their friendship comfortably with you. Am I convincing enough? Well, you have no other choice but to trust me and look at the fun time with the kids at Borromeo Beach in Camotes ^_____^.
I have two other places with crystal clear water and powder like sand to recommend actually they have more but these are the ones that are famous with the tourist.
Mangodlong Rock/ Paradise Resort: They have same owners but you could choose; where you wanna stay and enjoy the luxurious place.
Santiago Bay Beach: A public beach with very beautiful water. Try to disturb the water and it clears up within seconds and not to mention its powder-like sands.
2.Boating
Located in Lake Danao where most of the people get enchanted by the beauty of the lake. I too was obviously mesmerized. It is good for family or group of barkadas. A good moment to bond with them by watching the peaceful scenery while breathing a fresh cool air.
3.Kayaking
Are you in need of a calm adventure? Here you go rent a kayak, move across the water. You get two benefits from this; fresh air and an exercise. I guess Camotes is not only all scenery but a place where you get clean air and good circulation of blood during your stay.
4.Horse back riding
This is Located in Danao Lake as well. You get to do three activities in visiting this place; boating, kayaking and horse back riding. Do you wanna feel like you’re in your hacienda? Now, hop into the horse and enjoy 10-20 minutes ride!
5.Cave swimming
Camotes has two caves where you can swim; Bukilat and Tiumbo Caves.
◎Bukilat Cave –
Is one of the main tourist attractions in Camotes. According to the care taker; Bukilat cave was used to be the hiding place of the natives during the World War II and was believed that treasures were hidden throughout the cave. You can swim in the water if you like, no one will stop you but if you just wanna have only picture-taking, go on. I even made a super model pose during my visit but be careful bats are everywhere, though they’re not as scary as what you are thinking.
◎Timubo Cave –
A cave where you really get to experience cave swimming. How high would that water get? During, low tide 5-feet and high tide 6-feet. The water is cool which is really close to cold and as clear as the crystals. I recommend going on weekdays because it’s usually not crowded.
Would you dare to ? You should. This one is cool and clean. Truly is relaxing
6.Spelunking
The newly discovered, Holy Crystal Cave. This should be part of the 10 things you should do in Camotes. Why? It has naturalistic environment, untouched and protected much by the care taker. You are not even allowed to touch the caves’ stalactites and stalagmites. Since it is discovered by the caretaker itself, you are not going to pay anything but if you are kind enough to preserve its beauty, donations will help a lot.
7.Cliff Jumping
Cliff Jumping at Buho Rock in Camotes, should be part of your 10 things to do! I highly recommend. The adrenaline and the sense of achieving it, is worth it! Do this one, while still young, active and carefree! A story you can share to your future grandchildren, that you jumped a cliff and it was really high; 40-50 feet for the highest cliff and 20-30 feet for the short one. It always depends on the level of the seawater. There are also two slides. Unfortunately, I didn’t wanna ruin my bikini and shorts, too dry for a slide
8.Sunset Watching
Im a sunset-twilight-magnet! If others have PhD at the end of their names. I’d like to add; STM for mine, sunset-twilight-magnet (laughing)! I get to see it, every time I visit islands and this one is no exception at all.
9.Satisfying your tummy
I can recommend lots of delicious food out there in Camotes but I’ll give my top 3!
First Column: At Santiago Beach, there are STKs at a very reasonable prices! You could drink and
chill while watching the beautiful Santiago Beach.
Second Column: At Baywalk, delicious barbeques are there! Go and grab there famous intestines!
Third Column: At Mangodlong Paradise Resort, it is a bit expensive but not a bad one to try
because they offer a great ambiance, not to mention there beautiful food presentation!
10.To complete the 10 things to do in Camotes, Let’s build anything using the sand.
Let’s be creative this time. I have never failed to mention how powdery there sand is. Build anything you want.
Since most of you my readers are travelers by nature, why not make a rounded-seat-like for chit-chatting.
You can sit, drink and star gaze.
