Barili Exploration – Mantayupan Waterfalls

Mantayupan Waterfalls

I stayed in Molave Milkstation until 10 in the morning and waited for another habal-habal (motorcycle). I instructed the driver to go to “MANTAYUPAN FALLS” by the way; one of my goals is to chase waterfalls, meaning I’m going to visit one waterfall to another.

I have heard of its enchanting beauty. I wanted to judge it by myself, so off I went excitedly.  I arrived at the place and paid for 20 PHP (40 yen) to the habal-habal driver. Since today is weekday it means fewer crowd. Yay! I can savor the place more.

I paid another 20 PHP (60 yen) for the entrance fee. Entrance fee is usually used to maintain the place and pay for the people who are taking care of the place. You’d usually get a paper with a stamp as a proof of its legality. I went inside and I could hear the sound of the waterfalls. It was making me more excited. I couldn’t wait but see how explicit, it truly is. I then went inside and walked through a steel bridge with plants and small trees surrounding it. I could see they have maintained it and made ways to make it convenient for the people visiting the place.

After 2-3 minutes of walk, I could see two segmented waterfalls. The water is not much than it should have been but still, they looked good for me, So I took some photos, sat for a moment, and I could see the water – bluish to greenish. I touched the water and it felt really cold. The sun was really up at that time 11 AM – 12 Noon. I thought that if I swim here, it won’t feel that cold since the ambiance felt humid.

But I decided to reserve myself to the next waterfalls, Level-II of Mantayupan Waterfalls. I have been waiting to visit this one. I have seen people’s photos on Social Media that makes me want to visit it. I then carried my things and proceeded to the next level of waterfalls.

I climbed stairs and walked over the bridges and saw, the Level-II of Mantayupan Waterfalls.

I grabbed the opportunity of visiting the place on weekdays, It would mean that there will be lesser people than the usual. I could often see from the photos; tables with umbrellas but this time none! I got so happy that; I put my iPhone’s tripod and placed it somewhere far to take a long shot! Lucky, I visited Japan and I bought digital shutter, it’s connected to a Bluetooth and just click it from afar then it’ll automatically take a shot! I then took as many shots as I could and proceeded to enjoy the scenery. I saw how beautiful and peaceful the place was. I even hoped to live a peaceful place like here with abundant water. Living in the heart of the city has always been my life, going to these places makes me feel anew.

Moments later, I decided to change clothes and took a dip. The water was really cold and blue and since I was the only person there, I took the chance to own the place. I shouted and released all my emotions. I shouted because I was so happy and excited. I shouted because no one was around ^_^.

I swam towards near the waterfall but the current was so strong that I hardly moved. I decided to grab the rope that was conveniently placed there and pulled myself towards the waterfall. It was so quiet and I started to imagine scary things, Philippines’ scary myths. I got scared and went out! I swam back as fast as I could. I started to imagine ‘what if someone would grab my feet’ and then I got out from the water.

I changed clothes about half an hour later and decided to move to the next destination.
